Excited to be giving a keynote talk at the Venice Biennale on the 25th of this month on cities, architecture and Utopia (thanks to the British Council and the Flanders Architecture Institute especially for their support). Touching on Thomas More and Italo Calvino, I’ll be arguing in favour of a hard-bitten utopianism, against fashionable despair and the snake-oil salesmen who’ve been giving the future a bad name. It will be much more fun than it sounds. All attendees of the Biennale are welcome. Full details here.
P.S. I took this photo in Venice earlier this year, east of Ponte di Calatrava, at magic hour, which seems to be every hour in La Serenissima.
